Originally called "Dale's Court House", Daleville  was founded in 1830 by veterans of the Creek Indian War that had settled in this Dale County area. The town grew gradually until the incorporation of the nearby Fort Rucker in the mid 20th century. This has given Daleville more of a presence in the area and much more of a full service town then other smaller towns farther away from the base.
