Dale County Alabama is located at the southeastern tip of the state and is home to roughly 50,000 residents. Ozark is the county seat and also the largest city in this light populated county. First inhabited by the Creek Indian Nation, the area was ceded to the US in 1814 with the Treaty of Fort Jackson.
Dale County was established in 1824 and originally included what is not Coffee and Geneva Counties as well as a portion of Houston County in the panhandle of Alabama. Daleville was the original county seat but after a couple moves landed itself in Ozark. 
Dale County is home to several notable landmarks and historical sites including the Ozark Racetrack, Joseph E. Acker House and several churches. There are dozens of older homes that dot the Dale County landscape including the Oates-Reynolds Memorial Building which was a girl's dormitory of the Baptist Collegiate Institute from 1900 - 1924.
